As the steam era draws to a close in North America, Brown says its time to take a look back at the earliest days. He does so by listing dozens of pre-1850 railways in alphabetical order and stating their end points, original gauge, type and weight of rail if known, date incorporated, first operated, and/or completed and a roster of the first locomotives. A great reference!
