The Steel City Chapter of the Railroad & Locomotive Historical Society was formed in 2017 by a small group of railroad enthusiasts and the McKeesport Preservation Society. This chapter serves the Greater Pittsburgh and surrounding areas as a flagship chapter in the Steel Valley.
Our vision is twofold. First, we aim to preserve and educate the public in this region’s vast railroad network from small Class III industrial railroad that served the steel and manufacturing industry to the big Class I railroads that hauled passengers and freight.
Our second vision is to highlight and preserve a few select railroad locomotives and rolling stock in the former McKeesport Connecting Roundhouse located in McKeesport, PA. With a group of dedicated and passionate railfans and history and preservation buffs this dream is becoming reality. We hope you consider joining our organization.
